Synopsis 시놉시스

모두에게 한없이 착한 여자로 여겨지는 은지의 생일날, 연인 현우가 실종된다. 수혁은 현우를 걱정하며 은지의 생일을 대신 축하하지만, 은지는 연인을 전혀 걱정하지 않는다. 오히려 자신은 타인에게 언제나 위협이 되지 못하는 삶을 살았다며 뜻 모를 한탄을 뱉는다. 이에 수혁은 수상쩍음을 감지하는데 이미 때는 늦었다.

On Eunji’s birthday, a woman known for her boundless kindness, her boyfriend Hyunwoo suddenly goes missing. While Suhyeok worries about Hyunwoo and steps in to celebrate Eunji’s birthday in his place, Eunji shows no concern for her missing lover. Instead, she lets out an inexplicable lament—that she has lived a life incapable of ever posing a threat to anyone.

Sensing something unsettling, Suhyeok begins to grow suspicious, but by then, it is already too late.

Directors Note 연출의도

진정한 절반의 나를 찾아가는 과정은 '좋은 나'가 아닌 '나쁜 나'를 수용하는 일이다. 사랑이라는 지극히 아름다운 감정 안에서도 우리는 악행을 저지른다. '나'라는 온전한 한 판은 그 이해 못할 유해함마저 모두 인정할 때 비로소 완성되는 명화다. 온순한 여자가 세상에서 사라지는 모습을 목격한 관중들 모두가 유해의 증인이 될 것이다.

The journey toward becoming one’s complete self is not about embracing the “good self,” but about accepting the “bad self” within. Even within the most beautiful emotion—love—we are capable of committing harm. A whole self can only emerge when even its incomprehensible toxicity is fully acknowledged.

As the gentle woman disappears from the world, the audience will become witnesses to what remains of her—her ruin, her trace, her aftermath.
